About the Author

Becky Christine Martin was born in Midland, Michigan, in 1958, and was raised in a lively Christian home alongside her five sisters and two brothers. Her parents gave all the girls the middle name Christine and the boys Christian to remind them that their identity in Christ is the most important. From gathering together to sing hymns to cozy winter evenings reading by the fireplace, Becky’s childhood was filled with love, faith, music, and books.

She fondly remembers birthday celebrations that always ended with her father reading Psalm 139-what she calls the “Birthday Psalm”- a tradition that made God’s Word deeply personal and memorable. With a pastor for a father and a musically gifted mother who played organ and directed the church choir, Becky’s home was steeped in faith and creativity. It was also a home where they learned valuable life lessons of getting along with others, sharing, and forgiveness. Her mother also taught all the children to play the piano, sewed their Christmas and Confirmation dresses, made delicious coffeecakes every Christmas and modeled a life of service and joy.

Becky has always loved stories-both reading and sharing them. Some of her childhood favorites include Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. That love for reading later shaped her passion for teaching. She spent several years in a parochial school where she taught students in a multi-grade classroom.

Today, Becky works at a home for senior citizens, where she serves meals, visits residents, and brightens their days with friendly conversation. Though she’s officially retired, she still steps in to help whenever needed. She’s also part of a ministry at her church that reaches out to people with special needs through Bible lessons, songs, crafts, and snacks-a joy-filled time of learning and connection.

Becky enjoys playing piano and violin, embroidering baby blanket and writing stories that share the love of Jesus. She wrote The Most Beautiful Dress to explain to the children how Jesus covers our sins with His Robe of Righteousness and also to reflect her love for embroidery. Her intent with Safe with God was to help children understand that Jesus is with them in every situation. Covid in the Hands of Jesus was written to emphasize to children that Jesus is with them even in scary or uncertain times.

Her greatest desire is for children to know that Jesus is their Savior and friend. Whether they’re feeling afraid, lonely, or unsure, Becky hopes her stories remind them that Jesus is stronger than anything they face-and He will never leave them.

Becky Christine Martin lives in Michigan, where she still enjoys her hobbies, meaningful work, and time with family and friends.
